Caregiver Assistance     Prairie Council on Aging provides the Caregiver Resource Center for Morgan, Cass & Scott counties to assist people who serve as caregivers. If you live in Greene or Jersey counties, please contact the local Health Department. See thier information at the "Community Link" section of this web site.
WHO ARE CAREGIVERS? Caregivers are family members, neighbors, friends, seniors, who help in many ways. If you prepare a meal, help pick up the groceries, drive a senior to the doctor, visit regularly...you are a care giver. There is also a component of this caregiver program called grandparents raising grandchildren (GRG).
YOU ARE NOT ALONE! One in four households is involved in caring for an older adult. The senior may live in your home, across town or in another state. In Illinois, 200,000 grandchildren are being raised in grandparent-headed homes.
ASK FOR HELP. Without support, caregivers can "burn out" and become unable to provide care. Prairie Council on Aging's Caregiver Resource Center can help provide you with: - Information and Assistance
- Education
- Support Groups
- Legal Services
- Financial Assistance
- Guardianship
- Advocacy
