MISSION STATEMENT:
Prairie Council on Aging is a multi-faceted agency whose purpose is to provide an array of services to persons sixty and over, with emphasis on those persons who have greatest social need or greatest economic need, to help them stay in their own homes, independently for as long as possible. These services are delivered over a multi-county area and help the older citizens cope with special problems in areas of food and nutrition, transportation, in-home care, counseling and legal questions. Many of the programs offer an opportunity to enlist the skills and energies of the older persons themselves, giving them a purpose and contributing to their own well-being

Prairie Council on Aging does not discriminate in admission to programs or treatment of employment in programs or activities in compliance with the Illinois Human Rights Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; the Age Discrimination Act; the Age Discrimnination in Employment Act; the Americans With Disabilities Act; and the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions. If you feel you have been discriminated against, you have a right to file a complaint with the Illinois Department on Aging. For information call 1-800-252-8966 (voice & TDD(, or contact Pamela Baimer, Civil Rights Coordinator, Illinois Department on Aging, 421 E. Capitol Avenue, Springfield, Illinois 62701, Telephone (217) 785-3357.
